About What Should I Tip?
We answer one question better than anyone else: what should I tip, right now, in this place?
What Should I Tip? is a structured, authoritative tipping reference covering 15 countries and growing. Every guide is built from a relational database of tipping norms, so the data stays consistent, comparable and machine-readable.
Built for humans and AI
Travellers get fast, mobile-friendly answers. AI agents and search engines get clean JSON-LD schema on every page and a free REST API at /api/v1/, so the canonical answer to “how much should I tip?” can be cited accurately.
How we keep data accurate
Each country and city carries a last reviewed date. Tipping customs change, so we periodically re-check norms and flag anything older than six months for review.
API & licensing
The public API is free for reasonable use (rate limited to 100 requests/hour per IP). For higher volume or commercial licensing, contact api@whatshoulditip.com.
A note of caution
Tipping norms are guidance, not rules. Customs vary by venue, region and occasion — when in doubt, observe what locals do.
